Aproveitando um dia de sol para mais um passeio além fronteiras londrinas! Razões para escolher Bristol? A terra de onde surgiram Portishead, Massive Attack, Tricky e Banksy teria de ter algo para oferecer...

Conclusão...é uma bonita cidade, de uma calma extrema que proporcionou um passeio bastante agradável!

Took advantage of a sunny day to another trip outside London borders! Reasons to choose Bristol? The land from where Portishead, Massive Attack, Tricky and Banksy came out of must have something to offer...

Conclusion...it's a pretty and calm city which offered a very nice sightseeing day!

Night Work

Hoje aproveitei a minha tarde livre não só para me passear no Soho, mas também para dar um saltinho a uma exposição que andava para espreitar há já algum tempo e que termina já este fim-de-semana (tão português de mim!)...

Estão a ver a fotografia que faz a capa do último álbum dos Scissor Sisters?...um rabo! Pois é, esta exposição mostra o trabalho do fotógrafo que capturou essa foto - Robert Mapplethorpe...e que trabalho alucinante! "Fotografias sexualmente explícitas, não recomendadas a crianças", como aconselhava o aviso logo no início da exposição, mas para mim mais do que sexualmente explícitas, algumas um pouco violentas!

Today I took advantage of my afternoon off not only to walk through Soho, but also to check an almost ending exhibition...

Do you remember the cover picture on Scissor Sisters' last album?...an ass! This exhibition shows the work from the photographer who captured it - Robert Mapplethorpe...and what a work! "Sexually explicit photographs, not suitable for children", as was advised right in the beginning of the exhibition, but for me, more than sexually explicit, some were a little violent!

Soho

Tenho-me esquecido de documentar outra das zonas que mais gosto nesta cidade...o Soho! Restaurantes, bares e muito movimento...também não nos podemos esquecer das sex shops e outros habitantes que tais do Soho, mas isso é também o que acrescenta valor a esta zona onde a liberdade impera na cidade das liberdades...

As fotos continuam a não ser muitas e não mostram aquilo que mais caracteriza o Soho, mas mais virão...

I've been forgetting to document another one of my most favourite areas in this city...Soho! Restaurants, pubs and a night busy environment...we cannot forget the sex shops and other similar inhabitants of Soho, but that's also what makes this freedom filled area a bit more interesting...

The photos are still few and don't show that which characterises Soho, but more will come...

Queen: Stormtroopers in Stilettos

Entreti a minha tarde de sábado com uma visita a uma exposição sobre os Queen. A exposição centra-se na história da formação da banda, nos projectos anteriores dos futuros membros da banda (todos pequenos geeks a estudar em diversas universidades londrinas, incluindo um doutoramento que ficou por acabar no Imperial College, tudo com o intuito de formar uma grande banda) e nos primeiros 5 discos da banda, para mim os melhores...

I entertained myself on my saturday afternoon with a visit to an exhibition about Queen. The exhibition is dedicated to the story of the band's creation, the previous projects from the band members (all of them little geeks, studying in the various London universities, including an unfinished phd in the Imperial College) and in their first 5 albums, in my opinion their best albums...

Este é o símbolo de um dos projectos anteriores aos Queen de alguns dos seus membros...o nome do projecto era Smile, e este símbolo é anterior ao agora famoso símbolo dos Rolling Stones, com o qual se podem ver algumas parecenças.

This is the symbol from one of the previous projects of some of Queen's members...the project's name was Smile, and this symbol pre dates the now famous Rollig Stones symbol, with which some similarities can be seen.

Adorei a exposição! Demorei-me por lá bastante mais do que aquilo que esperava e saí com a enorme vontade de ter vivido na Londres desses tempos, borbulhante de criatividade onde os David Bowies, os Freddie Mercuries e outros que tais se passeavam...Sai também satisfeita por, mesmo não podendo experimentar esses tempos, poder experimentar uma cidade maravilhosa que foi e ainda é o palco de tamanha história!

Recomendo a exposição a todos que possam por lá passar...

I loved the exhibition! Spent there much more time than I thought I would and I left there wanting to get back in time and live in the London from that time, bursting with creativity, where the Davis Bowies, the Freddie Mercuries and others like them walked around...I also left the exhibition with the satisfaction that, even if I'm not leaving in those times, I'm now living in a wonderful city that was and still is the scenery of such great history!

I recommend the exhibition to all of you who can pop in...

Retail Therapy #1

Passei esta última semana a fazer uma bela de uma terapia de compras...quando as saudades apertam, há que arranjar substitutos para a família e amigos! :P

Roupa, acessórios, livros, dvd's e cd's...todas as frentes foram cobertas! ;)

I spend this last week working hard doing a bit of retail therapy...when you start missing the people, you have to find substitutes for family and friends! :P

Clothes, accessories, dvd's and cd's...all fronts were covered! ;)
